Sunday April 26, the president of the republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev captured the official flame of the Baku 2015 European Games during a special ceremony that took place in the ancient and sacred temple of Ateshgah, Baku. Among the 150 national and international guests were also the First Lady Merhiban Aliyeva and the President of the European Olympic Committee Patrick Hickey
The launch of the Torch Relay was the start of the travel of the flame throughout the country, spreading the spirit of the Games in 60 different locations.
The distinguished guests were treated with an impressive Multi-media Show combining video mapping on the ancient walls of the temple with traditional dance performances leading to the moment of the flame capture highlighted by an impressive pyroshow.
A+A Events as the leading supplier of event technology in CIS was assigned by BEGOC (Baku European Games Operation Committee) as the full-service production company and supplier of all event technology. In order to create this elaborate production in such short time notice, A+A Events togehter with Global Sunshine Production assembled an international team of specialists and partners out of their AV Alliance with Phlippo ( Belgium) and Alabama (France) including the camera director Stephan Bolz and the international highly recognized light designer Nick Jones.
8 BARCO HDX-W20 Flex projectors driven by the newest version of catalyst media servers were used in tandem projection for the video mapping. All signal feeds including the time-code were distributed over a bi-directional fibre network (Riedel MediorNet) with 100% redundancy. The broadcast technology was provided by A+A Events french partner company Alabama including vision and graphic mixers, as well as Grass Valley Camera systems.
Alongside the projects visual requirements, a decentralized sound system was installed consisting out of a range of L`acoustics products like KIVA, 12XT, 8XT and 5XT speakers.
