Thousands of people packed the new home of Formula 1 in Azerbaijan to witness a quite spectacular opening ceremony followed by a hugely enjoyable race, where speeds on track exceeded the 360km/h mark, confirming Baku City Circuit as the fastest street circuit in the world!
Nico Rosberg stretched his lead in this year’s world championship with a commanding win in Formula 1’s inaugural Grand Prix to be staged in Baku, Azerbaijan.
An outstanding entertainment program with some of the world’s top artists like Chris Brown, Enrique Iglesias and Pharrell Williams was integral part of the F1 experience for the spectators.
The F1 Main Concert Stage for the artists was part of the F1 Fanzone inside the race track. Challenge was to align all operational logistics with the training and race schedule in order to have access to the venue site. All change overs between the artists for example were done between midnight and 06:00 am in the morning.
On site a brand new roof system (SR 50) from Eurotruss was installed to host the artists performances with 24x16m stage size and 2 x 14m wide side wings for PA and LED Screens.
Due to the limited space available for audience, the whole structure was built on a pier with some additional special support structure drilled into the Caspian sea to support the back towers and back wall of the stage.
For sound reinforcement a K1/K2 system from L’acoustic was used consisting of 12 x K1 plus 4 x K2 speakers per side with 6 x K1 subs flown behind the main pa array. An additional 12 x K2 per side were used for outfill hangs with 8 Kara modules being utilized for front fill.
32 x SB 28 were supporting the low end. L’ acoustics LA-Raks amplified controllers powered and processed the entire loudspeaker complement.
The local production house A+A Events partnered with PRG Gearhouse and Deltasound from Dubai to realize and implement this challenging production and new format in Azerbaijan.
